Elizabeth Sidiropoulos

Prof. Elizabeth Sidiropoulos is the chief executive of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), an independent foreign policy think-tank based in Johannesburg. She holds an MA in International Relations (cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.

 

André de Mello e Souza

Dr. André de Mello e Souza is a Senior Research Fellow at Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada (IPEA), Brazil. He graduated in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1994) and has his Masters in International Relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1997), Master in Political Science from Stanford University (2005) and a PhD in Political Science from Stanford University (2005). He has experience in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations and International Political Economy in particular. His areas of study include intellectual property; non-governmental organizations; international regimes; international cooperation for development and globalization.

 

Philani Mthembu

Dr. Philani Mthembu is the Executive Director at Institute for Global Dialogue. Prior to joining the Institute for Global Dialogue associated with Unisa, Philani Mthembu pursued a joint doctoral programme (Dr. rer. pol.) with the Graduate School of Global Politics, Freie Universität Berlin (Germany), and the School of International Studies at Renmin University, Beijing (China); he conducted his field research at the latter. The focus of his dissertation was on the rise of emerging powers as sources of development cooperation in Africa. The study was essentially a comparative analysis of the determinants of their development cooperation in Africa using qualitative comparative analysis (QCA), for which he was awarded an overall grade of Magna Cum Laude.
During his time abroad, he co-founded the Berlin Forum on Global Politics (BFoGP), a non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of academic, expert, and public understanding of global politics. He is an alumnus of the Managing Global Governance Programme established by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, designed for young professionals from emerging economies. As an expert, he has actively participated in various international conferences, symposia, and workshops related to global politics. He received his MA in International Relations at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where he headed the Academic Development Programme for first year students and was elected as an independent candidate to the Student Representative Council.

 

Jorge A. Perez-Pineda

Dr. Jorge A. Pérez-Pineda is a research professor at Anahuac University Mexico in the Faculty of Business and Economics and belongs to the National Research System (SNI) in Mexico. He has been consultant for Mexican and international institutions such as AMEXCID, OXFAM, Endeva, UNDP, AECID, GIZ, IICA, and professor in other universities such as UNAM and Mora Institute. He holds a BA in Economics for the National University Autonomous of Mexico and a Masters degree and PhD by the Complutense University of Madrid, with postgraduate studies at the University of Essex and a specialization on Global Governance by the German Development Institute (DIE). His research interests are on the topics of private sector and international cooperation, CSR, middle income countries, and financing development.

 

Paulo Esteves

He is a professor at the Institute of International Relations of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He holds a degree in History from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1993), a master’s degree (1995) and a PhD (2003) in Political Science from IUPERJ. He is a founding member of the Brazilian Association of International Relations and was Director between 2005 and 2009. He is an elected member of the Executive Committee “International Political Sociology,” section of the International Studies Association

 

Laura Trajber Waisbich

Dr. Laura is Senior Researcher at the Igarapé Institute. She holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Cambridge and a Research Master’s in Political Science from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris). She has more than ten years of research and policy experience in issues related to International Development Cooperation, Brazilian Foreign Policy, Social Policy, Citizen Participation and Human Rights. In the past she worked for non-governmental human rights organisations and research centres in Brazil, Belgium, United States and the United Kingdom. She is currently research associate with the Brazilian Centre for Analysis and Planning (Cebrap) and the South-South Cooperation Research and Policy Centre (Articulação SUL.

Citlali Ayala Martinez

She has been a research professor at the Mora Institute since 2002. She worked in the General Directorate of Technical and Scientific Cooperation of the SRE and has consulted on cooperation for GIZ, AECID, AMEXID, UNDP Mexico and Oxfam, among others. Her research areas are south-south and triangular cooperation, cooperation in higher education, Agenda 2030 for sustainable development and digitization linked to development. She is coordinator of the Diploma in International Cooperation for Development and its management instruments, taught at the Mora Institute since 2010.

 

Chuanhong (Diana) Zhang

Dr. Chuanhong ZHANG is associate professor at College of Humanities and Development Studies/ and Director of Center for International Development Cooperation Studies at College of International Development and Global Agriculture (CIDGA), China Agricultural University. Dr. Zhang also serves as the Secretary of China International Development Research Network (CIDRN) and acts as the focal point of China Chapter of Network of Southern Think-tanks(NeST). She was an academic visitor of the China Centre at University of Oxford (2011-2012) and a visiting scholar of the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Davis (2017-2018). Her research interests cover both China’s domestic transformation and international development cooperation, specifically on China’s poverty reduction, China-Africa Agricultural Cooperation, Gender and Development, etc.
